Sabrina Carpenter Says Short n' Sweet Tour Success Was Biggest Turning Point in Her Career
JAKARTA - American pop star Sabrina Carpenter has spoken openly about the biggest turning point in her music career.
Even though the song "Espresso" exploded globally in 2024 and catapulted his name into the ranks of top stars, the 26-year-old soloist insists that the experience of meeting fans in person on the Short n' Sweet world tour was a moment that permanently changed his life line.
As is known, since his musical debut in 2015, Carpenter has gone through a long journey for almost a decade before finally reaching the peak of popularity through the album "Short n' Sweet".
He also reflected on how one success is actually the accumulation of many small moments that are interrelated.
"When I think of the one thing that changed my life, it feels ridiculous. There must have been 20 things before it and 20 things after (the release of Espresso]," Carpenter said in a recent interview with Perfect magazine.
"There are so many moments that lead to something that resonates with people. Then the moments after that are also very important," he continued.
Carpenter added that the transition from a small stage to a big arena was an incredible emotional shock. For him, seeing thousands of people singing the lyrics he wrote in an isolated studio gave validation that could not be obtained from streaming numbers alone.
According to Carpenter, the real interaction on stage is the main fuel for his existence as an artist.
"I think, honestly, the tour I did last year, the Short n' Sweet tour, I feel like it really changed my life. It was my first arena tour. It was the first time everyone could really live with these songs and hear how they sound loud. It was really because of the tour and the fans," said the singer who is synonymous with his blonde hair.
"Most of what they have done to change my life is by their presence, by being there. I owe them," he added.
The tour, which started in September 2024 and ended in November 2025, took Sabrina across North America to Europe with tickets sold out at almost all locations. This success was also strengthened by her appearance as a headliner at prestigious festivals such as Coachella.
Furthermore, for Carpenter, performing a concert in the midst of a digital world gives a magical sensation. He feels the stage is a place where the energy of thousands of people comes together into one real story.
"When I write, I'm pretty isolated in the studio. Whereas I feel this show is a place where you can feel so much energy in the crowd, in that sea of people. There are so many stories, and there are so many different types of people that it feels like you're really alive," Sabrina Carpenter concluded.
