BYD Refresh the Sealion 05, Longer Range and Smarter Features
JAKARTA - BYD officially introduced the latest version of the Sealion 05 as part of its strategy to strengthen its position in the market through a combination of more competitive prices and improved technology. The Chinese manufacturer has brought updates to this SUV line to answer the increasingly fierce competition in the electrification vehicle segment.
Launching from CNEV Post, Tuesday, April 21, the latest Sealion 05 is still offered in two variants, namely the Sealion 05 DM-i as a plug-in hybrid and the pure electric-based Sealion 05 EV. For the domestic market, the Sealion 05 DM-i is marketed with a starting price of 97,900 yuan, or Rp. 246 million.
Meanwhile, the electric version is sold in the range of 119,900 yuan to 145,900 yuan (equivalent to Rp301 million to Rp366 million). The most noticeable improvement is in the performance and efficiency sector.
The pure electric variant is now equipped with a second-generation Blade battery and fast charging technology. The Sealion 05 EV is claimed to be able to add power in just five minutes, with a maximum range of up to 630 kilometers.
Acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h can also be achieved in 5.9 seconds. Meanwhile, the Sealion 05 DM-i still relies on BYD's fifth-generation DM hybrid technology.
The fuel efficiency is claimed to reach 3.1 liters per 100 kilometers when the battery is in low condition. In full condition, the combination of fuel tank and battery allows this car to travel up to 2,105 kilometers.
The hybrid model is available with two battery capacity options, namely 26.628 kWh and 34.275 kWh. Both of them offer pure electric range based on the CLTC standard of 220 kilometers and 305 kilometers.
In terms of technology, BYD has embedded the latest driving assistance system. The highest variant has been equipped with a feature called God's Eye C as standard. In addition, there is an option to add LiDAR that allows vehicles to support the God's Eye B system with more advanced capabilities, including automatic navigation in urban areas.
In terms of design, the Sealion 05 still carries the design language typical of the Ocean family with a number of improvements to the body dimensions. This car has a wheelbase of 2,770 mm and is equipped with a smart cockpit system.
The presence of this model expands BYD's portfolio in the Ocean line and confirms the company's steps in maintaining price competitiveness in China's increasingly competitive electric vehicle market.
