JK and Malino I-II History Perpetrators Pledge to Maintain Peace Following the Controversy of the Lecture Content
JAKARTA - The 10th and 12th Vice President of the Republic of Indonesia, Jusuf Kalla (JK), together with the perpetrators of the Malino I agreement in Poso and Malino II in Maluku, agreed to maintain peace in the midst of reporting the content of lectures at Gadjah Mada University (UGM).
"Friends of the media, we have met. We have agreed to maintain peace, and so that these effects, these slander, are not understood in a good way," said JK at a press conference in Jakarta, Tuesday, April 21, reported by ANTARA.
He explained that the meeting was to discuss the events of the brotherly war in Poso and Maluku 25 years ago and to explore a joint agreement that the problem of his speech at UGM was considered resolved.
"However, it is also because what I say is what happened in Poso and Ambon which happened 25 years ago," he said.
In addition, JK said the content of the lecture on the conditions of the civil war in Poso and Maluku came from the campus to discuss the peace process carried out by JK as a representative of the state.
"My lecture at Gajah Mada was at their request to talk about the peace process. The long road to peace, the topic of the talk," he said.
He asked the perpetrators of the Poso and Maluku history to understand the content of the material he delivered according to the actual circumstances when the incident occurred.
"I invite you, friends from Ambon and Poso to give us all an understanding, share experiences because what I say is actually just an introduction," he said.
One of the historical actors, the Muslim delegation in the Malino I negotiations in Poso Sugianto Kaimuddin, confirmed that the polemics over the content of the sermon had been resolved peacefully through the open forum.
"I immediately actually dealt with the Posoclear riots. There is nothing to talk about because what Mr. JK said was the facts on the ground," he said.
As one of the parties to Poso who attended, Sugianto said that the community and the people of different religions in Poso Regency had agreed that JK's speech at UGM should not be politicized.
"Recently we formed an institution called the solidarity between religious people in Poso Regency. Which poured out several points of agreement, among which we strongly disagree and reject if the speeches or public lectures of Mr. M.H. Jusuf Kalla are politicized," he said.
Therefore, Sugianto said that the perpetrators of history in Poso quickly took action to hold a meeting with other historical figures and JK so that a peaceful condition could be created.
"We hear information, we are quick now to do any meetings. We are in contact with each other. For the sake of our common welfare and safety," he said.
