Close the Session Period, Puan Ensures the DPR to Control the Implementation of Hajj 2026

JAKARTA - House of Representatives (DPR) Chairwoman Puan Maharani ensures that the DPR will continue to monitor the implementation of the 2026 Hajj which will begin to run. He also welcomed the departure of the Hajj pilgrims to the Holy Land.

"Let me convey my congratulations on performing the hajj to more than 204,000 pilgrims who are scheduled to depart tomorrow, Wednesday, April 22, 2026. May Allah SWT always provide smoothness in every series of worship, health during the journey, and safety until returning to the country," said Puan in a speech. closing the DPR session at the plenary session held at the DPR building, Senayan, Jakarta, Tuesday, April 21.

Puan then revealed a number of things that the council had done during the 2025-2026 DPR RI Session IV. For the legislative function, the DPR together with the Government has completed 2 Draft Laws that have been passed today.

The two laws are the Law on the Protection of Witnesses and Victims and the Law on the Protection of Domestic Workers (UU PPRT). For the Law on the Protection of Witnesses and Victims, Puan said the presence of the policy was a tangible form of the Government's role in ensuring adequate protection for witnesses and victims.

"Including the reporter, informant, and/or expert as parties who are at risk of being threatened with their lives in criminal cases, and strengthening the Witness and Victim Protection Agency in the criminal justice system as a state institution," said Puan.

Meanwhile, the PPRT Law is said to exist to provide certainty and legal protection for the profession of domestic workers, as well as regulate labor relations in the domestic sector. "This law aims to rearrange the labor relations of Domestic Workers (PRT) from the former informal to having legal certainty," he said.

Until now, according to Puan, the relationship between employers and PRT has often been based on positive family values, namely socio-cultural values. In the PPRT Law, these values are still maintained, but equipped with a professional framework that is recognized and protected by law.

"Thus, a warm and fair relationship is created, and provides decent protection for PRT as an important part of household and community life," said Puan.

In addition to the enactment of the Law, the DPR has also set 3 bills as DPR RI initiative proposals, namely the bill on the Amendment to Law Number 34 of 2014 concerning the Management of the Hajj Finance, the bill on the Protection of Domestic Workers before being enacted as a law, and the bill on the Amendment to Law Number 28 of 2014 concerning Copyright.

Puan said that the DPR was still continuing to prepare a number of draft laws that would become DPR RI's initiative bill. He also touched on the adjustment of the norms of laws that have gone through judicial review by the Constitutional Court as part of organizing the development of national law and political law.

One of the Judicial Reviews by the Constitutional Court, namely through the Constitutional Court Decision No. 28/PUU-XXIV/2026 which confirms that the state institution authorized to conduct an audit of state financial losses is the BPK.

"This must be followed up in the implementation of related laws," he concluded.

For information, the DPR will undergo the Fourth Session Period of the 2025-2026 Session Year from April 22 to May 11, 2026.
