Mardiono Calls for People's Sovereignty and Independent Economy, PPP Asked to Remain Solid

BOGOR - Chairman of the United Development Party (PPP) Muhamad Mardiono emphasized the importance of maintaining people's sovereignty while encouraging national economic independence.

In the opening of the PPP Branch Conference (Muscab) throughout the Bogor Regency, Mardiono emphasized that the principle of people's sovereignty is the main foundation of a democratic state as mandated in Article 33 paragraph 3 of the 1945 Constitution.

"Our country is a democratic country, the essence of sovereignty is in the hands of the people. This is what we must continue to protect together," he said, quoted from Antara, Tuesday, April 21.

The Muscab involved a number of areas in the Pakuan Raya region, namely Sukabumi Regency, Sukabumi City, Bogor Regency, Bogor City, and Depok City.

Apart from political issues, Mardiono also highlighted the direction of national economic policy which must be in favor of independence, especially in the food sector. He said Indonesia began to reduce its dependence on rice imports since 2025.

"Mr. President Prabowo Subianto wants sovereignty in the hands of the people, including in the economy. We must not continue to be importers," he said.

Meanwhile, the Chairman of the West Java PPP DPW Uu Ruzhanul Ulum conveyed a message from the General Chairman that all cadres should maintain the party's internal atmosphere.

He emphasized the importance of avoiding internal conflicts and prioritizing collaboration in building political power.

"Mr. Ketum always advises avoiding internal conflicts and prioritizing collaboration. Don't let there be a bamboo split style and leadership must be carried out wisely," he said.

On the other hand, the Chairman of the PPP DPC Sukabumi Regency, Anri Hidayana, expressed optimism about the future of the party. He believes that the solidity of the cadre is the key to increasing the PPP's electability.

"We are confident that if we are solid and compact, Insyaallah PPP will rise in class," he said.
