Brimob Car Hits Motorist in Mamuju to Death
MAMUJU - A fatal accident occurred on Jalan Trans Sulawesi, Bambu Village, Mamuju District, Mamuju Regency, Monday, April 20. The incident involving the operational vehicle of the West Sulawesi Regional Police and a motorcycle resulted in one person being killed at the scene.
The victim, who was a motorcyclist, is still unknown. Officers did not find any identification cards or identification marks on the victim's body or vehicle.
Based on the circulating video footage, the victim was seen lying on the side of the road in an unconscious state. A number of health workers who were around the location had provided first aid, but the victim's life was not saved.
The hard collision caused the Brimob operational car of the Isuzu type to suffer damage to the front and cracked glass. Meanwhile, the victim's motorcycle was destroyed in several parts.
The Mamuju Police Chief of Police AKP Arfian explained that the accident started when the Brimob car was traveling from the direction of the Sulbar Police to Bambu Village. At the same time, a motorcycle came from the opposite direction, namely Kalukku to Mamuju City.
"When passing through the uphill bend, the motorcyclist allegedly lost control so that there was a collision with a car from the opposite direction," said Arfian.
Until now, the police are still carrying out crime scene investigations (TKP) to determine the exact cause of the accident. The lack of eyewitnesses makes the investigation focused on collecting additional evidence, including searching surveillance camera footage around the location.
"The exact cause is still being investigated. We are collecting evidence and looking for CCTV footage," he added.
Both vehicles involved have been secured for further investigation. The police also appealed to road users to be more careful, especially when crossing bends and uphill terrain.
