Germany Condemns US Military Intervention Talks on Cuba
JAKARTA - German Chancellor Friedrich Merz has criticized the possibility of a military operation by the United States against Cuba because there is no clear basis for intervention.
"There is no clear reason to invade Cuba. Despite the various domestic political problems faced by countries under communist regimes, Cuba does not pose a real threat to other countries outside its territory," Merz said at a press conference in Hanover, reported by ANTARA from Sputnik/RIA Novosti, Tuesday, April 21.
He also emphasized that differences of opinion regarding the political system cannot be used as an excuse to carry out military intervention against a country.
"Having the ability in defense does not mean having the right to intervene militarily against other countries just because their political systems are different," he said.
However, the American Merzragu will actually take that step.
"I assess that at this time the United States also has no reason to launch such an operation," he said.
Previously, US President Donald Trump stated that his party might intervene militarily against Cuba after resolving the issue with Iran.
Meanwhile, the Pentagon said it was also preparing a number of steps and ready to carry out US presidential orders regarding the possible operation.
