Iran Thinks About Negotiations, Pakistan Continues to Persuade the US to End the Blockade

JAKARTA - Mediators from Pakistan are still trying to convince the United States (US) to end its naval blockade of ships going to and from Iranian ports.

This was revealed by a source of a senior Iranian official to The Telegraph, Monday, April 20.

The US Navy has blocked ships to and from ports in Iran as part of US President Donald Trump's threat to immediately negotiate between the US and Iran.

The blockade in the Gulf waters, from the Strait of Hormuz to the Sea of Oman, was also carried out by the US after Iran declared it had fully opened the Strait of Hormuz during the period of the ceasefire in Lebanon.

A senior Iranian official also told Reuters that Tehran had yet to find certainty whether it would participate in a second round of peace talks with the US in Pakistan due to Trump's actions ordering the US Navy to continue the blockade.

"No final decision has been made," the official said.
