Nunukan Prosecutor's Office Responds to Citizen Action, Several Cases Still in the Investigation Stage

NUNUKAN - The Nunukan District Attorney's Office (Kejari) has given an official response to the protest action carried out by the Nunukan Law Watchers Community Alliance in the Nunukan District Attorney's Office a few days ago.

Head of the Intelligence Section (Kasi Intel) of the Nunukan Attorney General's Office, Arga Bramantyo Cahya Sahertian said that his party expressed appreciation for the participation of the community in escorting law enforcement in Nunukan Regency.

"The role and participation of the community is a crucial instrument in law enforcement. Every aspiration, criticism, and input will be evaluated in the implementation of our duties," said Arga.

Arga explained, the alleged criminal acts in the mining sector, their handling is under the authority of the North Kalimantan High Prosecutor's Office (Kejati).

"Currently, it has entered the investigation stage by the Special Criminal Investigation Unit (Pidsus) of the Attorney General's Office. We have also conveyed the aspirations of the community," said Arga.

"The Attorney General's Office appreciates public participation and ensures that the handling of cases is optimal, objective, and transparent," he continued.

Meanwhile, for the alleged corruption in the Nunukan DPRD house allowance in 2016-2017, the Prosecutor's Office ensured that the case was still in the investigation stage.

"Investigators have examined a number of parties, ranging from members of the 2014-2019 DPRD, the head of the DPRD, the Secretary of the DPRD, the Head of the Legal Affairs, the Secretary of the Provincial Government, to the Public Appraisal Service Office (KJPP)," he said.

In addition, investigators are still waiting for the results of the calculation of state losses from the BPKP Perwakilan Kaltara and expert testimony.

Arga emphasized that the determination of a suspect cannot be carried out without sufficient legal basis.

"The determination of the status of a suspect must be carried out carefully and based on at least two valid evidence," he said.

The Nunukan District Attorney's Office also followed up on the allegations in the cooperation on the utilization of regional assets with PT Sinar Cerah regarding the construction and management of shops or markets since 2005.

"We are collecting data, deepening the material, and coordinating with related agencies with guidance from the results of the BPK RI examination," he explained.

The Nunukan District Attorney confirmed his commitment to ensuring legal certainty by upholding the principle of due process of law and maintaining transparency through the delivery of case developments to the public.

"Synergy between the community and law enforcement is important to realize just and integrity law enforcement in Nunukan," he concluded.
