NHM Introduces DST Plant at ITNY, Promotes Efficient and Environmentally Friendly Mines
YOGYAKARTA - PT Nusa Halmahera Minerals (NHM) introduced the Dry Stack Tailings (DST) Plant technology in the National Seminar of the Mining Student Association of the Yogyakarta National Institute of Technology (ITNY), Monday, April 13, 2026. In this forum, NHM emphasized that the future of the mining industry is no longer determined by production, but also the ability to reduce environmental impacts through technology.
The seminar, which is part of the 22nd Anniversary of ITNY, was held at the Sahid Raya & Convention Hotel Yogyakarta with the theme How Artificial Intelligence and the Digital Revolution (4.0) Are Driving the Future of the Mining Industry. NHM uses this forum to show that operational efficiency and environmental management must go hand in hand, not in conflict.
NHM was represented by Assistant Superintendent DST & Water Management, Yoga Mei Rizal. In the second session, he explained the material "Implementation of Dry Stack Tailings Plant in the Framework of Mining Technology Transformation". According to Yoga, the implementation of the DST Plant is a concrete step for the company to increase work efficiency while strengthening environmental performance in the midst of industry 4.0 demands.
Yoga also highlights the presence of artificial intelligence or AI that is increasingly entering the world of work. He assessed that AI should not be seen as a threat to the workforce, but rather a tool to encourage more innovative and efficient work.
"We hope that this activity can be a motivation, reflection, and reference for ITNY students, especially in preparing individual capacity and skill competencies that can compete in the era of the Industrial Revolution 4.0," said Yoga in a written statement received Monday, April 20.
