Lenteng Agung Residents Find the Body of a Man Without Identity Drowning in the Ciliwung River
JAKARTA - Residents of Lenteng Agung, Jagakarsa, were shocked by the discovery of the body of an unidentified man floating in the Ciliwung River, South Jakarta, Monday, April 20, 2026 morning.
The body of the victim was first found after a report from the Sanitation Management Unit (UPK) of the Water Agency who were patrolling in the river
"At 08.45 WIB, Pawas together with the SPK and picket functions went to the location of the discovery of the body in the Ciliwung River to conduct an initial check," said the Head of the Jagakarsa Police, Nurma Dewi, in his statement, Monday, April 20, 2026.
Nurma said that the discovery of the unidentified body began when UPK officers from the Environmental Water Agency saw a body floating from the direction of Kelapa Dua. Then, a search was conducted using a boat until it was found in the Kedung Sahong area, Lenteng Agung, South Jakarta.
After being found, said Nurma, the victim's body was evacuated and examined by the Identification Unit of the South Jakarta Metro Police. From the initial results, the victim was suspected of being dragged by the Ciliwung River before being found at the location.
"The next victim was taken to the Kramat Jati Police Hospital for a visum et repertum to find out the exact cause of death," he said.
Nurma emphasized that until now, his party was still investigating the identity and cause of the victim's death and being swept away by the Ciliwung River.
He also appealed to the public who felt that they had lost a family member to immediately report to the nearest police.
"For relatives who feel they have lost a family member, please immediately report to the nearest police," he concluded.
