Bluesky Admits to Having Experienced a Disruption Due to a DDoS Attack

JAKARTA - Bluesky revealed that its platform had experienced service disruption due to a Distributed Denial-of-Service (DDoS) attack that occurred on the evening of April 15, 2026 Pacific time.

In its official statement, the company said that the attack caused users to experience intermittent disruptions to a number of application features.

Initially, the Bluesky team received a report of an application disruption at around 11.40 pm PDT. They then worked all night to mitigate the attack, which was said to be quite sophisticated and continued to increase in intensity throughout the day.

"This attack impacted our app, with users experiencing intermittent service disruptions to their feeds, notifications, conversations, and search," he wrote.

However, Bluesky emphasized that to date there is no evidence of unauthorized access to user personal data.

However, the company also said that the incident focused on service disruption, not a data security breach.

Bluesky also noted that this was not the first disruption in the near future, as the service had experienced a brief outage earlier in the same month.
