7.911 New Arrivals Enter Jakarta After Eid, Majority of Productive Age

JAKARTA - The DKI Jakarta Population and Civil Registration Office (Dukcapil) recorded a total of 7,911 new arrivals entering the capital after Lebaran 2026 until April 19.

This data collection has been carried out since March 25 and will continue until the end of April 2026 through socialization activities and ball pick-up services throughout the administrative city area, including the Thousand Islands. The figure is still provisional and may change as the data collection process progresses.

The Head of the DKI Jakarta Civil Registry Service, Denny Wahyu Haryanto, said that Jakarta is still a magnet for residents from various regions, especially after the Lebaran momentum.

"Jakarta as the center of the Indonesian economy, is still an attraction for residents outside the area who come after Eid to find jobs in Jakarta. Based on the data received, more than 57 percent of new arrivals are in the productive age, namely 20-39 years," said Denny in his statement, Monday, April 20.

The DKI Jakarta Provincial Government, continued Denny, did not carry out judicial operations against new arrivals. The approach used is more persuasive and humanistic.

"We are in line with the Governor's direction, by taking a humanistic approach through coordination with the Mayor, Regent, Head of Sub-district, Village Head, and RT/RW managers, accompanied by socialization to residents and pick-up services for new arrivals after Eid in residential areas and all Dukcapil service kiosks in DKI Jakarta," said Denny.

As part of the data collection effort, Dukcapil will hold a simultaneous socialization on April 20, 2026 in five city areas. This activity takes place at the sub-district and neighborhood levels to reach migrants directly.

Dukcapil also appeals to residents who do not live permanently in Jakarta to register as non-permanent residents. Registration can be done at the Dukcapil counter at the sub-district level or through digital services.

"For people who have limited time, non-permanent population registration can also be done through Digital Population Identity," said Denny.

This data collection is the basis for the government in formulating data-based policies, including planning for public service needs such as transportation, health, and education.

The DKI Provincial Government hopes that the post-Eid urbanisation flow will remain under control and can have a positive impact on Jakarta's economy. The public can also monitor data on arrivals through the official DKI Jakarta Dukcapil website.

Dukcapil emphasized that all population administration services are free of charge. In addition to regular services, there is also an additional service, Saturday Administrative Services (SaPa), which is held every third week of the month at all Dukcapil service points.
