TNI AL Disrupts Illegal Lobster Seed Smuggling in Cilacap

JAKARTA - The Indonesian Navy through the Second Fleet Quick Response (SFQR) Team at the Indonesian Navy Base (Lanal) Cilacap thwarted the smuggling of Lobster White Seed (BBL) in the East Ring Road area, Karangkandri Village, Kesugihan District, Cilacap Regency.

The discovery of the smuggling began with a patrol carried out by the SFQR team in the coastal area of Kesugihan District, Cilacap Regency.

The Head of the TNI AL Information Service (Kadispenal) First Admiral TNI Tunggul explained that during the patrol, officers stopped one of the motorcycle riders who was carrying a styrofoam box.

The team immediately inspected the box and found hundreds of lobster seedlings that had been packaged.

"The SFQR team secured a man on behalf of Kasimin who was suspected of carrying BBL without official documents using a motorcycle with one styrofoam box," said Tunggul as quoted by ANTARA, Monday, April 20.

The perpetrator and the evidence were taken to Mako Lanal Cilacap for further investigation. The team from the Marine Resources and Fisheries Surveillance (PSDKP) also went to Mako Lanal Cilacap to check the evidence.

"Based on the results of the examination, the number of BBL that was successfully secured was 5,859, consisting of sand and pearl types. Based on these findings, the country is estimated to have a potential loss of up to Rp. 2.5 billion," explained Tunggul.

The TNI AL then handed over the perpetrator and evidence to the PSDKP for further legal proceedings.
