Bogor City Government Speeds Up Train Project, Strengthens Bogor-Bandung Access

BOGOR - The Bogor City Government (Pemkot) is encouraging the acceleration of the development of railway infrastructure as part of efforts to increase connectivity and support regional growth, especially in the southern region.

The commitment was conveyed by the Mayor of Bogor, Dedie A. Rachim, after meeting the Director General of Railways of the Ministry of Transportation, Allan Tandiono, at the Ministry of Transportation Headquarters, Jakarta, Friday, April 17.

Dedie explained that the development of railways was the main focus of discussion, including a number of strategic projects such as the construction of Sukaresmi Station, strengthening the function of Ciomas Rancamaya Station, to the progress of the Batutulis Station area.

"We encourage the acceleration of the development of the railway network in Bogor City, especially to strengthen the connectivity of the southern region which has been limited so far," Dedie said in his statement, Sunday, April 19.

One of the projects of concern is the certainty of the construction of the Sukaresmi Station. The Bogor City Government, he said, is ready to support the realization of the project, including its integration with the housing program through the construction of apartments around the station area.

In addition, the development of access to Ciomas Rancamaya Station is also considered important because of its strategic position in supporting the Bogor-Bandung connectivity plan through the southern line.

"The development of the southern line of West Java is a priority. In the future, the people of Bogor have an alternative access to Bandung without having to go through the northern line," he explained.

On the other hand, the Bogor City Government also reported the progress of the Batutulis Station project which is part of a national strategic project. Dedie said the land acquisition process had been completed and the auction phase was underway, so further synchronization with the central government was needed.

"The development of Batutulis needs to be accelerated through synchronization between the City Government and the Directorate General of Railways so that the benefits can be felt immediately by the community," he said.

The Bogor City Government hopes that the strengthening of railway infrastructure can be a solution to urban mobility as well as encourage the equalization of development, especially in the southern region which is developing.
