Iran Ready to Reopen its Airspace in 4 Phases

JAKARTA - Iran's airspace will be reopened in four phases, according to the country's aviation authorities.

The first phase will allow transit flights to resume, followed by flights from airports in eastern Iran in the second phase, according to a report by state broadcaster IRIB on Sunday (19/4).

Phase three will restore operations at Mehrabad and Imam Khomeini airports, while the fourth and final phase will include flights from airports in the country's west.

"Ticket sales for aircraft are currently suspended, and the public must pay attention to official announcements to find out the latest airport status and ticket purchase options," said the deputy director of the Civil Aviation Organization as quoted by IRIB as reported by ANTARA from Anadolu.

IRIB did not provide a schedule for when the reopening would begin.

Citing the Civil Aviation Organization, the Mehr news agency also reported on Saturday (18/4), flight operations at airports across the country will be restored gradually, based on the technical and operational readiness of military and civilian authorities, to resume passenger flight services.

On February 28, the US and Israel launched a joint attack on Iran, and Tehran retaliated with attacks on Israel and other regional countries hosting US assets.

The war has been suspended since April 8, when Pakistan brokered a two-week ceasefire.

Washington and Tehran held talks in Pakistan last weekend to reach a lasting peace, and efforts for another session in Islamabad are underway.
