Fishermen Bring Six Packages of Methamphetamine in Konawe Arrested by Kendari Police

SULTRA - The Narcotics Investigation Unit (Satrensnarkoba) of the Kendari City Police (Polresta) arrested a fisherman with the initials JA (55) for allegedly carrying six packages of methamphetamine in Konawe Regency, Southeast Sulawesi Province (Sultra).

Head of the Narcotics Unit of the Kendari Police, AKP Andi Musakkir Musni, when contacted in Kendari, Sunday, said the arrest of the suspect, who is a resident of Lalonggasumeeto Village, was carried out on Saturday (18/4) at around 17.00 WITA.

He said the disclosure of the case was based on a report from the community who were restless because of the rampant circulation of narcotics in the area.

"The suspect was arrested at a house in Lalonggasumeeto Village, Konawe Regency after officers received information from the community regarding the presence of drug transaction activities at the location," said Andi.

He said that during the search, officers found six transparent plastic bags containing white crystals suspected to be methamphetamine with a gross weight of 2.01 grams.

"The evidence was found by the officers stored in the right pocket of the perpetrator's pants," he said.

Andi revealed that in addition to confiscating evidence of the methamphetamine package, officers also confiscated a number of evidence in the form of one digital scale, two empty bags, one mobile phone, and cash suspected of being the result of the transaction.

"Currently, the suspect and the evidence have been taken to the Kendari Police Narcotics Office to undergo further investigation and development to uncover the supplier network," said Andi.

For his actions, JA was charged with Article 114 Paragraph (1) of Law Number 35 of 2009 concerning Narcotics and Article 609 paragraph (1) letter a of the RI Law Number 1 of 2023 concerning the Criminal Code as amended by the RI Law Number 1 of 2026 concerning Criminal Adjustment.
