Neuronavigation Technology Improves Accuracy of Neurosurgery

JAKARTA - The use of neuronavigation technology is considered capable of improving accuracy in complex medical procedures such as neurosurgery and stroke treatment.

As stated in the press release received, Sunday, the technology is contained in a health device called Medtronic Neuronavigasi S8 provided by PT Itama Ranoraya Tbk (IRRA).

Medtronic Neuronavigasi S8 is a surgical navigation system that allows doctors to perform neurosurgical operations with real-time image guidance, so that every step of the action can be mapped with high precision.

Head of Neuroscience Team Siloam Hospitals dr. Michael Lumintang Loe explained that this technology is a major leap for health services.

He said that in neurosurgical procedures such as brain tumor disease surgery, nerve compression, and stroke, navigation technology allows surgery to be performed with a higher level of precision to reach a sub-millimeter scale in real time.

"This gives better outcomes. With the support of features such as image fusion and tractography, we can identify and mitigate the risk of damage to critical neural structures. This ensures that all stages, from planning to operation execution, run much more optimally," he said.

He also added that the aspect of flexibility and ease of operation is a significant added value in daily clinical practice.

This system also has excellent integration capabilities with other medical devices such as 3D C-Arm.

"In addition, its ergonomic and user-friendly design helps the surgical team in carrying out complex procedures more comfortably, focused, and efficiently," said Dr. Michael.

The introduction of the neuronavigation technology was carried out in a series of activities at the Siloam Fair 2026 at Siloam Hospitals Dhirga Surya Medan, North Sumatra.

IRRA also presents other medical technologies, such as the Valleylab Electrosurgical Unit (ESU), the Midas Rex surgical drilling system, as well as various disposable medical products used in hospital services.

President Director of PT IRRA Heru Firdausi Syarif stated that the synergy between medical technology providers and health facilities is the main key in answering the challenges of modern health services.

"Through the provision of S8 surgical navigation technology, we hope to be able to help the Siloam Hospital medical team in providing more precise, safe, and optimal surgical services for the community," he said.

The Medtronic Neuronavigation S8 system introduced through the activity is claimed to be the only technology of its kind currently available in North Sumatra.
