North Sumatra Pusdalops Reports Four Areas Flooded, 400 Souls Affected

JAKARTA - The North Sumatra Disaster Management Operations Center (Pusdalops PB) reported that four districts/cities in the area were hit by floods.

According to the report of Pusdalops North Sumatra received in Medan, Sunday, the four areas are Central Tapanuli Regency, North Tapanuli Regency, and Deliserdang Regency, as well as Tanjungbalai City.

The floods that hit Central Tapanuli Regency were caused by the overflowing of the Lopian River following heavy rains throughout Saturday (18/4).

Meanwhile, the flooding that hit Tarutung District in North Tapanuli Regency was caused by high rainfall.

Based on the report from the Disaster Management Agency, the impact of the flood disaster in Central Tapanuli Regency and North Tapanuli Regency is still being recorded.

Meanwhile, the flood that hit Deliserdang Regency caused 105 houses inhabited by 400 people to be submerged in Hamparan Perak District. At least 35 people were forced to evacuate.

Furthermore, Pusdalops noted that the flooding that hit Tanjungbalai City was caused by the high tide that spread in several points.

Head of Emergency Handling, Equipment, and Logistics of the North Sumatra Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD), Sri Wahyuni Pancasilawati, said the report was a temporary data received from the North Sumatra Pusdalops.

"Based on the report, there were no injured or dead," he said.

He said that various efforts to handle the disaster had been carried out by a number of related policy makers.

In addition, BPBD North Sumatra also coordinates in terms of disaster management at the affected locations.
