Apple Ready to Dominate the Car Dashboard with CarPlay Ultra

Apple's technology company is preparing to expand the reach of CarPlay Ultra, the latest generation of its car infotainment system, to more global automotive manufacturers.

After almost a year since its launch, CarPlay Ultra is currently exclusive to luxury vehicles from Aston Martin. However, in the near future, this technology is expected to be present in more "mainstream" brands such as Hyundai, Kia, and Genesis.

Deeper Integration than Just a Screen

CarPlay Ultra is not just a display upgrade, but a redefinition of how the iPhone interacts with the vehicle. This system is directly integrated with the instrument cluster, allowing drivers to see data such as speed, fuel, tire pressure, to engine temperature in a single unified interface.

In addition, CarPlay Ultra also presents built-in controls for the radio and AC, as well as support for the rear camera display - all controlled through the iPhone ecosystem. In other words, this is no longer "mirroring the screen of the HP to the car", but a kind of iPhone that becomes a digital co-pilot.

Flexible Design According to Brand Identity

Apple also gives room for car manufacturers to customize the CarPlay Ultra display according to their brand character.

Each vehicle model can have a different interface, complete with visual theme options that users can choose. This approach is important to maintain the identity of the automotive brand, which has been the main selling point.

Expansion is just a matter of time

According to industry reports, at least one new model from Hyundai or Kia will be the next wave to adopt CarPlay Ultra in the second half of 2026.

If realized, this will be an important step in bringing Apple technology from the premium segment to a wider market.

Infotainment Competition Gets Hotter

The expansion of CarPlay Ultra also marks the tightening of competition in the vehicle infotainment system sector, where technology and automotive manufacturers are vying for control over the user experience in the car.

With deeper integration, Apple seems to want to ensure that the dashboard of the future car is not only sophisticated - but also feels like an extension of their device ecosystem.
