Majority of Indonesia's Regions Potentially Light Rain Today
JAKARTA - The weather in various regions of Indonesia has recently tended to be unpredictable, with the potential for rain still occurring even though some areas have begun to enter the transition period of the season.
This condition makes the community need to be more vigilant, especially against weather changes that can occur throughout the day.
The Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) predicts that most provincial capitals in Indonesia will experience light rain on Sunday, April 19. This information was conveyed by BMKG's prakirawan, Rizky, through the official YouTube channel.
On the island of Sumatra, a number of cities such as Banda Aceh, Medan, Pekanbaru, Tanjung Pinang, Padang, Jambi, Pangkal Pinang, and Bengkulu have the potential to be hit by light rain. Meanwhile, people in Palembang and Bandar Lampung are asked to be alert to the possibility of rain accompanied by lightning.
On Java, almost all provincial capitals are expected to experience light rain, including Jakarta, Serang, Bandung, Semarang, Yogyakarta, to Surabaya.
For Kalimantan, light rain is expected to fall in Pontianak, Tanjung Selor, Samarinda, and Palangka Raya. Meanwhile, Banjarmasin is predicted to experience rain accompanied by lightning.
In the Bali and Nusa Tenggara region, the weather conditions tend to be thick clouds in Denpasar and Mataram, while light rain is potentially occurring in Kupang.
For Sulawesi Island, Kendari and Makassar are predicted to be thick clouds. Light rain is potentially falling in Palu and Gorontalo, while moderate intensity rain is predicted to occur in Mamuju and Manado.
In the Maluku and North Maluku regions, Ambon is expected to experience light rain, while Ternate will be covered by thick clouds.
Meanwhile in Papua, heavy cloudy weather is expected in Sorong. Light rain is likely to fall in Manokwari, Nabire, Jayapura, and Wamena. Meanwhile, moderate intensity rain is predicted to occur in Merauke.
BMKG also reminded of the potential for heavy to very heavy rain in a number of areas, such as Aceh, North Sumatra, West Sulawesi, Papua Mountains, to South Papua. The public is urged to remain vigilant against the possibility of extreme weather that may occur at any time.
