Begal Meresahkan Action, Kaltara DPRD Promotes Strengthening Patrol and Enforcement
TANJUNG SELOR - Commission I of the North Kalimantan Regional Representative Council (Kaltara) held a public hearing (RDP) with law enforcement and related agencies to respond to the increasing reports of violent criminal acts and security disturbances that disturb the community.
The meeting which took place in the meeting room of the Kaltara DPRD leadership was attended by police and TNI elements.
The Chairman of Commission I of the Kaltara DPRD, Alimuddin, said that the RDP was held as a step of cross-sectoral coordination to maintain security stability, especially in the Bulungan area and Tana Tidung Regency.
"This situation cannot be allowed to drag on. We encourage concrete steps and cross-sectoral synergy to ensure that the public feels safe," said Alimuddin, Friday, April 17.
According to him, security stability is the main factor in supporting community activities and regional development.
"Security is the basic need of the people. If this is disturbed, then economic, social, and even development activities will also be hampered," he said.
He explained, In the RDP, Commission I highlighted three main issues, namely the prevalence of begal actions, illegal cockfighting practices, and drug trafficking.
The act of robbery on the Sekatak-Bengara and Sekatak-Betayau routes has become a concern because it is considered to have caused unrest in the community.
"We don't want there to be an impression of permissiveness. The apparatus must be present and visible in the community, especially in areas that have been identified as vulnerable," he said.
He also asked for the perpetrators of the crime to be punished firmly and continuously.
"We also ask that action be taken against perpetrators of begal, drug trafficking, and illegal activities such as cockfighting to be carried out firmly and continuously so that there is a deterrent effect," he said.
Alimuddin added that cross-sectoral coordination needed to be strengthened so that handling of security disturbances could be carried out in an integrated manner.
The Kaltara DPRD asked the authorities to increase patrols and surveillance at vulnerable points and immediately follow up on the results of the RDP to restore public safety.
"Cross-sectoral coordination must be strengthened. It cannot go it alone, because this kamtibmas problem is complex and requires integrated handling," he said.
