FIFA Adds New, More Expensive 2026 World Cup Ticket Categories
FIFA has added a new, even more expensive ticket category for the 2026 World Cup, with prices up to $4,105 (around Rp70.2 million) for a Category 1 seat in the front row at the opening match of the United States (US) against Paraguay in Inglewood, California, on June 12, 2026.
Last Sunday, FIFA had set a maximum price of 2,735 US dollars (about Rp46.8 million) for Category 1 tickets for the match, but added a new price for the "front category".
FIFA also added Category 2 in the front row to its sales website without a public announcement, with prices ranging from $1,940 to $2,330 (around Rp33.2-39.8 million), for the tickets at the US opener. This new category was first reported on Thursday, April 16, 2026, by The Athletic.
The 2026 World Cup will be held from June 11 to July 19 in 16 cities in the US, Mexico, and Canada.
FIFA, in its product and ticket category information on September 9, 2025, refers to Category 1 as the highest priced seats, mainly located in the lower stands, but it appears to have withheld some seats from that category.
They gave the Category 2 label which is located outside the Category 1 area, available in the lower and upper stands.
FIFA also added seats up to $3,360 (around Rp57.5 million) in front of Category 1 for Canada's opening match against Bosnia-Herzegovina on June 12, 2026 in Toronto.
For the 16-team round of 16, they added seats for $905 (about Rp15.4 million) in Philadelphia.
Last week, FIFA raised the highest ticket price for the 2026 World Cup final to 10,990 US dollars (about 188.2 million rupiah) during the reopening of sales that were hampered by technical problems.
The price was previously 8,680 US dollars (around Rp148.6 million) when FIFA sold tickets after the tournament draw in December 2025.
Category 2 tickets for the July 19, 2026 match at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey, are $7,380 (around Rp126.3 million), up from $5,575 (around Rp95.4 million), and Category 3 is priced at $5,785 (around Rp99 million) - up from $4,185 (around Rp71.6 million).
No tickets for the final appear to be available on the latest announcement on the FIFA ticketing site.
Meanwhile, FIFA President Gianni Infantino had initially repeatedly said that all 104 matches of the 2026 World Cup would be sold out.
After initial backlash from fans over the exorbitant cost, a "supporter tier" of tickets was added in December 2025.
