KPK Brings 3 Suitcases After Searching the Tulungagung Regency Office

TULUNGAGUNG - Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) investigators brought three large suitcases that were suspected of containing documents and money after searching a number of offices in the Tulungagung Regency Government area, East Java.

Based on monitoring at the location, the suitcase was put into a minibus when the investigation team left the office complex at around 13.50 WIB, after conducting a search for approximately five hours.

The search on the second day targeted seven rooms in three local government agencies (OPD), namely the Public Works and Spatial Planning Office (PUPR), the Regional Financial and Asset Management Agency (BPKAD), and the Procurement of Goods and Services Section of the Regional Secretariat.

At the PUPR office, investigators examined the head of the service room, the marga construction department, the marga staff, and the water resources department. Meanwhile, at the Regional Secretariat, the search was carried out in the procurement of goods and services room and the meeting room. As for the BPKAD office, investigators examined the head of the body room.

Since this morning, at least six minibus vehicles that were boarded by the KPK investigation team have been seen entering the office area with police escorts and Satpol PP security.

KPK spokesman Budi Prasetyo said the search was part of a series of investigations to complete evidence.

"The search was carried out gradually as part of the investigation process for the alleged corruption case in Tulungagung Regency," he said.

On the same day, investigators also carried out searches at four other locations, including the Regional Secretariat office including the procurement of goods and services room and the regent's room, the PUPR Office, the BPKAD Office, to the suspect's private house in Surabaya.

According to Budi, the series of searches were part of the development of the case of alleged extortion that ensnared the inactive Tulungagung Regent Gatut Sunu Wibowo.

From the results of the search, investigators secured a number of documents related to procurement and budgeting in the local government environment, as well as cash of around Rp. 95 million.

In addition, the evidence in the form of documents and electronic devices that were confiscated will be analyzed further to strengthen the evidence of the case.
