Save Fuel, DKI Provincial Government Develop the Use of Solar Panels

JAKARTA - DKI Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung revealed that the DKI Provincial Government is developing the use of solar panels to save energy costs in government operations in Jakarta. This is a step in energy efficiency in the midst of global dynamics.

Pramono said that the development of renewable energy is part of efforts to reduce dependence on fossil fuels.

"Regarding efficiency and alternative energy. Jakarta is currently developing one of them, namely solar panels," said Pramono at the DKI Jakarta City Hall, Friday, April 17.

Pramono said that this policy will be designed in more detail so that it can become a long-term solution in reducing fossil-based energy consumption. In addition, the DKI Provincial Government will also strengthen the campaign to use public transportation as an immediate step to reduce fuel consumption from private vehicles.

"Now, public transportation with Jakarta connectivity is already 93 percent, public transportation will be easier," he continued.

On the other hand, Pramono also considered additional policies to reduce mobility based on private vehicles, including the possibility of expanding the work from home (WFH) scheme.

"I am considering, we are using public transportation on Wednesday, working from home on Friday, whether there will be additional policies that make us efficient, especially in relation to the use of fossil fuel consumption," said Pramono.

However, he admitted that fuel supplies still depend on central government policies. The provincial government is trying to ensure that energy availability remains safe amid global uncertainty. In addition to fuel, attention is also paid to the availability of 3 kilogram LPG which is a basic need of the community.

"Because this is a very basic need, so that we don't have to rush when the problem occurs later. For this reason, we will start to develop the optimization of renewable energy use in Jakarta," added Pramono.
