Motorcyclist Dies After Hitting a BYD Electric Bus in Lenteng Agung

JAKARTA - A motorcyclist was killed after hitting the back of a BYD electric bus on the south direction of Lenteng Agung Highway, right in front of Lenteng Agung Station, Jagakarsa, South Jakarta, Thursday, April 16, 2026 at around 10.00 WIB.

The victim is known as MN (58), a resident of Cilodong, Depok City. The victim died at the scene due to the injuries he suffered after the hard impact.

The Head of the Traffic Police's Gakkum Sub-Directorate, AKBP Ojo Ruslani, said the accident began when the BYD electric bus driven by T. (29) was stopped at the bus stop in front of Lenteng Agung Station.

At the same time, the Honda Stylo motorcycle driven by the victim was traveling from north to south and was allegedly less careful while driving until it hit the back of the bus.

"The bus was stopping at a passenger stop. Then the motorcycle came from north to south and hit the back of the bus," said Ojo in a statement, Friday, April 17, 2026.

Ojo said that as a result of the incident, the bus suffered minor damage to the back. Meanwhile, the victim's motorcycle was severely damaged in the front. Meanwhile, the driver of the motorcycle, died

The officers are still investigating the exact cause of the accident. According to Ojo, the driver was allegedly less careful and less concentrated while at the scene,

"It is suspected that he was not careful and concentrated on hitting the back of the BYD electric bus," he concluded.
