After the FH UI Case, Alleged Harassment at IPB Is in the Spotlight and This is the Campus Response

BOGOR - IPB University confirms its commitment to maintaining a safe and conducive campus environment following the emergence of alleged cases of sexual harassment among students that have been widely discussed on social media.

This case came to light after information circulated that there was an alleged involvement of students in sexual harassment, which was allegedly carried out in interactions in digital spaces and campus social environments. This information sparked public attention and encouraged the campus to immediately conduct a search.

Director of Cooperation, Communication, and Marketing of IPB University, Alfian Helmi, said the campus condemned all forms of actions that degrade human dignity and dignity.

"Any form of violation of campus life order will be processed according to the applicable provisions," said Alfian in a statement received by VOI.ID, Friday, April 17.

He explained that currently the Office of Campus Security, Safety, and Protection Management (KMKKPK) is handling the report. The process carried out includes summoning related parties, collecting evidence, and coordinating with related units.

According to Alfian, the handling of the case is carried out by prioritizing the principles of caution, confidentiality, and upholding the principles of justice. The investigation process refers to the Rector's Regulation of IPB University Number 45 of 2025 concerning the Rules of Student Life.

"If during the investigation process it is proven that there has been a violation, IPB University will impose sanctions in accordance with the applicable provisions," he said.

IPB also ensures that it will provide assistance to those affected. The campus appeals to all parties to refrain and respect the ongoing process so that the handling of the case can be objective.

The development of handling this case, continued Alfian, will be conveyed periodically while still paying attention to the principles of caution and fairness.

Previously, a similar case also surfaced in the Faculty of Law at the University of Indonesia (FH UI). In this case, the Business Law Society (BLS) student organization revealed the alleged involvement of dozens of 2023 students in a case of verbal sexual violence that circulated through online group conversations.

The disclosure of the case at FH UI also triggered public scrutiny of the handling of sexual violence issues in the campus environment, as well as strengthening the demand for universities to tighten supervision and ensure protection for victims.
