Not Stealing, Ruben Onsu's Lawyer Reveals the Facts Behind the Issue of Betrand Peto Taking Money and Perfume

JAKARTA - The bad news that said Betrand Peto alias Onyo stole perfume and money at Ruben Onsu's house was finally broken. Ruben Onsu's lawyer, Minola Sebayang, gave a firm clarification regarding the hoax videos circulating on social media.

Minola explained that Onyo's accusation of stealing perfume was a big misunderstanding. According to him, Onyo actually bought a new perfume for someone who was close to him, with a reference to a scent similar to that of his mother, Sarwendah.

"Onyo bought the person he liked the perfume, which happens to be the same brand as the perfume in the house. Onyo said, 'Bonnya is still there, Om'. So everything can still be accounted for," said Minola Sebayang in South Jakarta, Thursday, April 16.

Regarding the issue of stealing money worth Rp. 20,000, Minola said that Onyo's actions were far from the definition of stealing. Onyo openly showed the money to the surveillance camera before taking it.

"Stealing is taking without the other person knowing. This is not, he showed it to the CCTV camera, 'Here I take Rp20,000, there is a need' like that. So this is not stealing," said Minola.

Although he had planned to report the hate speakers, Ruben Onsu chose to postpone the legal action. This is because the netizen's attack began to subside after the clarification from Onyo.

"After the clarification from Onyo, Ruben said that the people who carried out the attack had started to disappear, decrease. The legal effort was postponed until they saw other things that made them have to act," he concluded.
