DJP is ready to make a new regulation for tax restitution

NGANJUK - The Directorate General of Taxes (DJP) of the Ministry of Finance (Kemenkeu) is finalizing a new regulation regarding the procedure for the return of advance payments of excess tax payments or restitution.

Director of Extension, Services, and Public Relations of the DJP, Inge Diana Rismawantiya, explained that the acceleration of restitution would be prioritized for taxpayers with high compliance rates. Hopefully, in the future, the disbursement of restitution will be focused to be more targeted.

"We are trying to get the accelerated restitution to be a taxpayer with a high level of compliance. The point is to be more targeted," said Inge in a media visit in Nganjuk, East Java, Thursday (16/4) as quoted by Antara.

He explained that the policy was aimed at improving the accuracy of distribution while maintaining the credibility of the tax system.

With the tax restitution rule, any excess tax payment will still be returned to the taxpayer. According to him, restitution is a taxpayer's right that must be fulfilled so that the DJP will not withhold funds that are indeed the right.

"Regarding the right to restitution, we understand very well that this restitution actually affects the taxpayer's rights. Of course we will not keep it for ourselves if it is indeed the taxpayer's right," he said.

However, the DJP is trying to ensure that the restitution process, especially the faster return of the advance, is only given to taxpayers with a good record of compliance.

"Indeed, at this time we are trying to make sure that those who receive restitution with a quick time or the return of the advance, are really taxpayers whose level of compliance is indeed correct," he said.

However, Inge has not detailed the provisions of the restitution scheme and asked the public to wait for the issuance of the Minister of Finance Regulation (PMK) which will be immediately enacted.

"The point is, it's more accurate to target who gets it. But don't worry, he said (PMK) will come out soon. So let's wait rather than say we are not signed by the Minister," he said.
