Fugitive Courier 58 Kilogram of Opium who Escaped During Jambi Police Investigation Arrested

JAKARTA - The joint team of the Jambi Police and the National Police Headquarters arrested M. Alung Ramadhan (23), a fugitive in the case of 58 kilograms of methamphetamine who had escaped while being examined at the Jambi Police investigator room on October 11, 2025.

"After being on the wanted list or DPO for almost six months, Alung's escape finally ended. The suspect was arrested while trying to escape again from Jambi to Riau using a minibus with six of his colleagues," said Jambi Police Chief Inspector General Krisno H Siregar as reported by ANTARA, Thursday, April 16.

Alung was arrested by a joint team on Thursday (16/4) early morning after the police received information that the perpetrator was about to escape from his hiding place at a family house in West Tanjung Jabung Regency, Jambi.

Currently, Alung is undergoing intensive examination at the Jambi Police Headquarters.

The Police Chief explained that Alung fled by taking advantage of the hesitation of investigators who left him alone while being examined in the investigation room.

For this incident, the investigating officer responsible has been sanctioned according to police regulations.

"Alung after fleeing the room of the investigator, then hid in the mosque toilet at the Mapolda to avoid the police chase and after the situation was safe, he fled by jumping the Mapolda fence," he said.

After successfully leaving the Mapolda environment, Alung walked to Buluran, Telanaipura District, Jambi City, and then fled to his family's house in West Tanjung Jabung Regency, Jambi.

For several months, the Alung DPO, Jambi Police continued to hunt for the whereabouts of the suspects and coordinated with the Immigration to prevent them from fleeing abroad.

This case began when the Jambi Police Narcotics Directorate (Ditresnarkoba) dismantled a cross-provincial narcotics network with 58.212 kilograms of methamphetamine as evidence. In this case, the police arrested three suspects, namely Alung, Agit Putra, and Juniardo.

Alung's two colleagues, namely Agit and Juniardo, are currently undergoing trial at the Jambi District Court with a threat of the death penalty or life imprisonment.
