There is a Grocery Stall in Jaksel Secretly Selling Hard Drugs

JAKARTA - The practice of circulating hard drugs disguised as grocery stores in the South Jakarta area was dismantled by the police. Three perpetrators with initials MJ, MI, and MRA were arrested at different locations after being caught selling prohibited drugs by disguising their activities as grocery sellers.

The disclosure was made by the South Jakarta Metro Police Narcotics Unit in the Kebagusan, Kemang, and Cilandak areas.

South Jakarta Metro Police Chief Kombes Pol I Putu Yuni Setiawan said the case was revealed thanks to a report from the public who suspected the activities at a number of grocery stores.

"Based on information from the community, we revealed cases of drug trafficking in a number of areas in South Jakarta," said Putu, Thursday, April 16, 2026.

According to Putu, one of the locations that was raided was a grocery store that sold basic necessities, but secretly also distributed hard drugs.

"We received information from residents around the crime scene that there was a grocery store that in addition to selling basic necessities and daily necessities, also sold and distributed dangerous drugs," he said.

Head of Narcotics Police at South Jakarta Metro Police AKBP Prasetyo Nugroho added that the buyers of the hard drugs came from various backgrounds.

"The people who often come to buy at the grocery store are the general public, one of which is construction workers," said Prasetyo.

During the raid, the police seized 8,286 pieces of various brands of hard drugs as well as cash allegedly from the sale.

Now the three perpetrators have been named as suspects and detained at the South Jakarta Metro Police Detention Center. They are threatened with a maximum sentence of 12 years in prison.
