Habibie-Ainun Musical Ready to Show at TIM, Performance Ecosystem to Be Spotlighted
JAKARTA - Minister of Culture (Menbud) Fadli Zon received Broadwayang Production at the Ministry of Culture office, Jakarta, Thursday, April 16. The meeting discussed the plan to stage the musical Sayap Cinta: Habibie & Ainun, as well as highlighting how the ecosystem of musical performances in Indonesia can grow stronger.
Fadli welcomed the initiative of performing arts practitioners who continue to try to expand the space for musical works in the country. According to the Minister, such efforts are important because they show that performing arts in Indonesia continue to find their own forms, audiences, and stages.
"We strongly support the efforts of stakeholders, especially in the field of performing arts and musical production. This shows that our art ecosystem is growing, and hopefully in the future there will be more and more musical works that are born," said Fadli Zon.
He also said that the government opened support space through various schemes that were already available, one of which was the Indonesian Funds platform. According to Fadli, last year's program had reached hundreds of art and culture communities.
From the Broadwayang Production side, producer and young director Mikail Edwin Rizki said this production was an effort to combine elements of tradition and modern approaches. Broadwayang, said Mikail, tried to bring together the power of wayang orang with the Broadway stage style.
"We want to present something different through Broadwayang, by combining the power of wayang orang and the Broadway approach. The musical Sayap Cinta: Habibie & Ainun we designed as a show that not only entertains, but also raises the values of love, dedication, and the exemplary figures of the nation," said Mikail, who also played Rudy Habibie.
The musical Sayap Cinta: Habibie & Ainun is scheduled to perform exclusively on May 8, 2026 at the Grand Theater of Taman Ismail Marzuki, Jakarta. This performance raises the story of the love of B.J. Habibie and Ainun through a theatrical, musical, and cultural approach, from the first meeting to the journey of both their lives.
In the meeting, Broadwayang Production advisors Setiawan Djody and Hendro Soeroso, actors Ainun Dhea Seto, executive producer Irwin Rizki, and operational manager Seruni HR. Accompanying Fadli were the Director General of Development, Utilization, and Culture Development Ahmad Mahendra, Expert Staff for Economic and Industrial Culture Anindita Kusuma Listya, and Special Staff to the Minister for Cultural Diplomacy and International Relations Annisa Rengganis.
