Electric Car Cas Transactions in Jakarta Increase, PLN Opens Fourth SPKLU Center

JAKARTA - PLN Distribution Parent Unit (UID) Greater Jakarta inaugurated the fourth SPKLU Center in Sakura Garden City, East Jakarta, amid the increase in electric vehicle charging transactions which grew more than five times.

PLN data recorded that throughout 2025 there were 803,235 transactions at public electric vehicle charging stations (SPKLU). Meanwhile, in January-March 2026, the number of transactions has reached 430,593. In the same period last year, the figure was still 88,012 transactions.

The surge shows that the use of electric vehicles in Jakarta has increased, which automatically increases the need for charging infrastructure.

The SPKLU Center at Sakura Garden City is equipped with five ultra fast charging units, one medium charging unit, and one SPKLU R2 unit for two-wheeled vehicles. This facility is also supported by a parking area and operates 24 hours.

Head of the DKI Jakarta Manpower, Transmigration, and Energy Service Syaripudin stated that the provincial government supports the development of electric vehicles as part of efforts to reduce emissions and improve air quality.

"The DKI Jakarta Provincial Government fully supports the development of electric vehicles as part of efforts to reduce emissions and improve air quality. The presence of the SPKLU Center is a tangible proof of collaboration in accelerating the transition to clean energy in Jakarta," said Syaripudin, Thursday, April 16.

PLN UID Jakarta Raya General Manager Moch. Andy Adchaminoerdin said the surge in transactions was a sign that public confidence in electric vehicles continued to grow.

"We see a very significant trend in the increase in SPKLU transactions. This is a strong signal that people are increasingly trusting and switching to electric vehicles. With the presence of this 4th SPKLU Center, PLN wants to ensure that the charging experience is faster, easier, and more comfortable," said Andy.

Currently, PLN UID Jakarta Raya operates 718 chargers at 405 locations. The network includes four SPKLU Centers in Bulungan, Menteng, Cibubur KM 10.6 Rest Area, and Sakura Garden City. The infrastructure consists of medium charging 22 kW, fast charging 25-50 kW, to ultra fast charging up to 200 kW.

PLN also relies on the PLN Mobile application to help users find SPKLU locations, monitor charging, and plan trips.
