Defense Minister Hegseth Urges Iran to Choose to Continue War or Agree with the US
JAKARTA - US Defense Secretary (Menhan) Pete Hegseth urged the Iranian Government to wisely conclude whether to continue the war or agree with the US President Donald Trump's Government.
"We urge the new Iranian regime to choose wisely," Hegseth said at a joint press conference with Joint Chiefs of Staff Chairman General Dan Caine at the Pentagon, Thursday, April 16, quoted by the New York Times.
The Trump administration has repeatedly claimed to have achieved its goal of regime change in Iran since the US-Israel launched an attack on Iran on February 28.
On the one hand, analysts believe that Trump's hyped war with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu only increased the internal influence of hardline forces against aggression, including the Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC).
