Wamenkomdigi: Adoption of AI Increases Corporate Financial Efficiency by 60 Percent

JAKARTA - Deputy Minister of Communication and Digital, Nezar Patria, said that the adoption of artificial intelligence (AI) in the financial sector showed measurable results, by changing the way financial functions work in companies.

He assessed that this technology is no longer just automation, but has directly impacted business efficiency and decision-making.

"Technology and digitization are now the top priorities for CFOs in facing this year. They see AI not only as an automation tool, but as a motor for responding to market changes and customer dynamics more quickly and accurately," said Nezar, quoted Thursday, April 16.

He said that based on the Stanford AI Index 2025 report, the adoption of AI in the global business world has increased significantly, with 78 percent of organizations having used AI from only 55 percent previously.

The impact is also visible, in a study of 500 companies adopting AI in the accounts receivable process, there is an increase in productivity of up to 82 percent and operational efficiency that can reach 60 percent.

However, Nezar emphasized that the main challenge of digital transformation in the financial sector is not only in technology, but also in terms of leadership and organizational culture in a company.

"The biggest obstacle is not technology, but leadership and organizational culture. Many AI initiatives stop at the trial stage without having a real impact," he said.

He underlined three strategic challenges that need to be overcome by financial leaders. The first is the pilot project trap, then data quality and governance, then human resource readiness.

He emphasized the readiness of human resources through the importance of the human in the loop approach in the development of AI. According to him, the true value of AI only emerges when technology goes hand in hand with the increase in human capacity.

"This is the most important point I think, namely building people, not just systems. The World Economic Forum notes that the true productivity of AI is only created when human capabilities also develop with it, so don't exclude humans in the process of AI-based systems," he said.
