Blak-blakan, Pramono Sebut Angka Ketimpangan Tinggi karena Uang Orang Kaya Numpuk di Jakarta
JAKARTA - DKI Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung highlighted the high economic inequality in the Capital City. He said that Jakarta's Gini Ratio, which is in the range of 0.41, is the main problem that has not been resolved until now.
According to Pramono, the high inequality is inseparable from the concentration of wealth in Jakarta, even though the owner does not always reside in the capital.
"Why is the Gini Ratio always big in Jakarta and the largest in this republic? Because almost all the rich people are in Jakarta," said Pramono when opening the 2027 RKPD Musrenbang event at the DKI Jakarta City Hall, Thursday, April 16.
"Almost all the big money is owned by people from Jakarta, although some of them may live in Surabaya, Bali, and so on, but on average they put their money or distribution in Jakarta," he said.
Pramono assessed that this condition has a direct impact on macro indicators and is the main challenge in equitable development.
To reduce inequality, Pramono emphasized that a number of social and educational assistance programs should not be eliminated or reduced in value. He asked his staff to maintain the continuity of programs such as the Smart Jakarta Card (KJP), the Outstanding Jakarta Student Card (KJMU), to assistance in the health sector.
"One of the policies that has been decided and I ask not to be changed is related to KJP, KJMU, then the diploma, then also related to incentives or social assistance in health. I ask that this is not disturbed, not changed," explained Pramono.
Pramono emphasized that education was the main key to breaking the chain of poverty or what he called the "line of misfortune". He also ensured that the number of KJP and KJMU beneficiaries would be maintained.
"I still ask that the Jakarta Smart Card be maintained at approximately 707,520 students. Then for KJMU, the Jakarta Student Excellence Card, 16,920 Jakarta students or who study elsewhere," he said.
In addition, the DKI Provincial Government is also preparing a similar scholarship scheme for the LPDP program for Jakarta residents who want to continue their education to a higher level. Pramono hopes that the local government will no longer be affected by the reduction of revenue sharing (DBH) from the central government so that regional programs can run without obstacles.
On the other hand, Pramono admitted that a number of Jakarta macro indicators showed positive trends, such as economic growth, poverty reduction, and reduced unemployment. However, inequality remains a major challenge.
For the direction of future development, the DKI Provincial Government continues to refer to the Regional Medium-Term Development Plan (RPJMD) until 2045 with a focus on the initial phase 2025-2029.
"So we remain focused on what has been prepared in the RPJMD for 2025 to 2045 and we continue specifically for the first phase in 2025-2029," he added.
