Meeting with the Minister of Forestry, PT Eco Power Nusantara Explores Green Biomass and Reforestation Investment Projects

JAKARTA - PT Eco Power Nusantara is exploring opportunities for strategic cooperation with the Ministry of Forestry (Kemenhut). This cooperation is carried out after the PT Eco Power team met with the Minister of Forestry (Menhut) Raja Juli Antoni on Tuesday, April 14.

President Director of PT Eco Power Nusantara Swastiko Yoga explained that the meeting with the Minister of Finance began with a presentation of the profile of PT Eco Power Nusantara, including the introduction of the board of directors and prospective investors. In addition, the company also presented the development plan for future projects, especially those based on ecosystems and the use of waste as economic value.

Furthermore, the company explained the future development plan of the project, especially the ecosystem-based project, the utilization of forest waste, plantation waste into economic value, and development opportunities in various regions of Indonesia," said Swastiko as a representative of the company in a written statement, Thursday, April 16.

Swastiko revealed that in the discussion, the potential for cooperation in the field of carbon credits, forest greening (reforestation), and the development of biomass waste as part of the circular economy approach was also mentioned. The company also explained the latest progress and investment plans to be poured by Eco Power UK.

"The investment in question is an initial investment for the development of biomass-based biochar and carbon credit projects, including the construction of factory infrastructure and offices, with a value of around USD25 million or around Rp420 billion," he said.

The focus of investment is directed at the processing of palm oil waste and agricultural / plantation waste which are value-added products. This effort is expected to support emission reductions, ecosystem recovery, and the development of a green economy in Indonesia.

A number of regions that are targets for project development include Sanggau, West Kalimantan; Dumai, Riau; and Boyolali and Sragen, Central Java.

Regarding the strengthening of cooperation with the Ministry of Forestry, Swastiko emphasized that collaboration would be focused on the sustainable forestry sector and the green economy.

"Strengthening cooperation is directed at the sustainable forestry sector and green economy, especially in the development of ecosystem restoration, reforestation, social forestry, and the development of carbon credit projects integrated with the use of biomass waste," he said.
