Owner of a Mini Pump in Banyumas Transporting Pertamina Fuel in an Avanza Containing 79 Jeriken Arrested
Central Java - The police have uncovered a case of alleged misuse of subsidized pertalite type fuel oil (BBM) in the Banyumas Regency area, Central Java.
"A young man with the initials ARN (22), a resident of Tambak District, we secured while acting at SPBU 44.531.02 Kradenan Village, Sumpiuh District, on Tuesday (14 April), around 22.39 WIB," said Head of the Banyumas Police, Police Commissioner General Petrus P. Silalahi in Purwokerto, Banyumas, Thursday, quoted by Antara.
He said the suspect was suspected of carrying out illegal practices by modifying vehicles to transport subsidized fuel in large quantities.
"The suspect misused subsidized fuel transportation of the pertalite type by modifying the vehicle's tank, then channeling the fuel into a jeriken stored in the car," he explained.
He said the vehicle used was an Avanza car with a police number that had been modified and replaced to deceive officers.
Inside the vehicle were found dozens of jeriken, both filled and empty.
"Officers secured 79 jeriken consisting of 22 jerigen containing pertalite with a capacity of around 25 liters each and 57 empty jeriken," he said.
In addition, the police also seized a number of other evidence in the form of several pairs of different vehicle number plates, one mobile phone, as well as supporting equipment such as digital scales, funnels, filters, and liter measuring tools.
He said based on the results of the examination, the fuel would be sold at the suspect's mini-pump.
"This action by ARN violates the provisions as regulated in Law Number 22 of 2001 concerning Oil and Gas which has been updated. We will process it according to applicable law," said the Police Chief.
