Zee Asadel Faces Challenges in the Film "I Choose the Sky Route", Wearing Hijab until Getting Married

JAKARTA - Actress Zee Asadel recounted a number of challenges she experienced in her latest film, Kupilih Jalur Langit. This film directed by Archie Hekagery tells the story of a married couple with an emotional courtship process.

"For the preparation of this film, we are actually quite short, but God willing, we have also tried our best for this film," said Zee Asadel at a press conference in South Jakarta on Wednesday, April 15.

Through this film, Zee first appeared wearing a hijab and became a character who went to school at a Pesantren. He felt the role was too heavy even though it still needed adjustment.

"Honestly, it's my first film that uses hijab and I'm very grateful to get this role of Amira. A role that I think is very interesting where I can see young people growing up from santri. So I see it as very interesting because maybe I've been to school as well, actually, more or less, "he explained.

Through his new role, Zee feels a heavier challenge when he plays a wife considering he is not married. He also learned a lot from his role and this film.

"I think my own role is not so heavy, but yes, maybe more after the wedding, that's what's challenging for me," Zee continued.

"We are also human beings, our expectations sometimes can't match reality so what I realize is that God gives tests to His servants. Insyaallah we can pass it, so Amira was given this kind of test," he said again.

The film Kupilih Jalur Langit tells the story of Amira (Zee Asadel) who married Ustaz Furqon (Emir Mahira) because of her parents' matchmaking. Amira and Furqon who accepted the offer began to live their marriage which was full of ups and downs.

The film Kupilih Jalur Langit will be shown in Indonesian cinemas starting April 23, 2026.
