Putri Optimistic Indonesia Can Pass Group C Uber Cup 2026

JAKARTA - Single badminton player Putri Kusuma Wardani is optimistic that Indonesia will be able to compete and pass the 2026 Uber Cup group stage which will take place this month.

The most prestigious women's doubles tournament will be held from April 24 to May 3, 2026 at the Forum Horsens, Horsens, Denmark. The Indonesian women's squad will compete with 15 other countries.

"I'm still positive and confident that I and my friends can continue that (qualify from the group stage)," said Putri.

Indonesia is in Group C of this year's Uber Cup along with China Taipei, Canada, and Australia. On paper, the Indonesian women's team has a chance to advance to the knockout stage.

Putri assessed that the quality of the opponent players, especially in the singles sector, was indeed worth paying attention to, but that did not close their opportunity to be able to qualify from the qualifying phase at all.

"In my opinion, the group is also quite tight, there is Canada, China Taipei, and Australia. If I am especially in the women's singles, players from China Taipei and Canada are also quite good," said the badminton player born in Tangerang.

In the previous edition two years ago, the Uber Indonesia squad managed to reach the final round. They ended up as runners-up after losing miserably without stealing a point against the host China.

The Indonesian squad at the 2026 Uber Cup is filled with Putri Kusuma Wardani, Thalita Ramadhani Wiryawan, Ni Kadek Dhinda Amartya Pratiwi, and Ester Nurumi Tri Wardoyo in the singles sector.

Meanwhile, in the doubles sector there are names such as Febriana Dwipuji Kusuma, Meilysa Trias Puspitasari, Rachel Allessya Rose, Febi Setianingrum, Siti Fadia Silva Ramadhanti, and Amallia Cahaya Pratiwi.
