Trump Warns There Will Be No Peace Deal If Iran Continues to Pursue Nuclear Weapons

JAKARTA - US President Donald Trump on Wednesday said there would be no peace deal if Iran continued to pursue nuclear weapons, but added that the war "could end immediately."

"They should not have nuclear weapons," President Trump told Fox Business in an interview, Anadolu (15/4) reported.

"If they don't have it, we're not going to make a deal," he continued.

"All of this is really about the absence of nuclear weapons, they should not have nuclear weapons," he explained, adding that Iran had "been hit very hard."

"We can destroy every bridge they have in an hour. We can destroy every power plant they have in an hour. We don't want to do that," said President Trump, adding "We'll see what happens."

Reiterating his claim that Iran poses a threat, he said Tehran "is trying to take over the Middle East, and we're stopping them," saying Iran would use nuclear weapons if it had them.

The Republican politician added, "I think they really want to reach an agreement."

It is known that Iran and the US held negotiations in Islamabad, Pakistan at the weekend, to end the escalation in the Middle East that broke out along with the US and Israeli attacks on the Land of the Mullahs on February 28.

Talks, which also cover Iran's nuclear program and the Strait of Hormuz, are at an impasse and have not reached an agreement. Efforts to hold another round of talks are underway.
