Iran prepares to welcome Pakistani delegation, discusses second round today
JAKARTA - Spokesperson for the Iranian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Esmaeil Baghaei, said Iran is likely to receive a delegation from Pakistan today, Wednesday, April 15.
The state news agency IRNA reported that the Pakistani delegation flew to Iran and was scheduled to land in Tehran.
When asked about this arrival being part of Pakistan's efforts to arrange the next round of negotiations, Baghaei said "message exchange is ongoing".
Pakistan is known as a mediator for the US-Iran peace talks that took place in Islamabad for 21 hours since April 11, 2026. The negotiations did not produce an agreement. The US and Iranian delegations eventually returned to their respective countries.
Baghaei added that since the Iranian delegation returned to Tehran on Sunday, April 12, 206 to today, "many exchanges of messages have taken place with Pakistan among them. According to him, Iran's position has been conveyed and heard.
He also said that during the visit of the Pakistani delegation to Iran, there would likely be detailed discussions on the views of both sides regarding the continuation of peace talks with the US.
