Ultimatum Akhir, Komdigi Bakal Blokir Wikimedia Jika Tak Daftar PSE dalam 7 Hari
JAKARTA - The Ministry of Communication and Digital has given an ultimatum to the Wikimedia Foundation to immediately complete the registration process as a private electronic system operator (PSE) in Indonesia.
Director General of Digital Space Supervision, Alexander Sabar, emphasized that if within 7 working days Wikimedia does not register PSE, Komdigi will block Wikimedia services, including the online encyclopedia ecosystem of Wikipedia Indonesia and Wikimedia Commons.
It is not without reason that Komdigi gave the ultimatum. Because Alex emphasized that his party had given an extension time at the request of Wikimedia from last year.
He revealed that the notification was given by Komdigi to the Wikimedia Foundation since November 14, 2025 to register as a Private Scope PSE in accordance with the applicable rules.
"In the last extension, namely 7 days, the Wikimedia Foundation is expected to immediately complete the PSE registration process in accordance with applicable regulations, if there is still no compliance with the law in Indonesia, we will take firm action in the form of blocking," Alex said in his statement.
PSE registration is a requirement for all electronic system organizers (social media, e-commerce, fintech, search engine) operating in Indonesia. Including for Wikimedia as a global platform with millions of users.
Alex stated that PSE registration does not cost anything and is applied equally to all platforms, both for-profit and non-profit, including public PSEs such as the Wikimedia Foundation.
