BPBD: 16 Districts in Bandarlampung Submerged by Flood

JAKARTA - The Lampung Provincial Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) recorded 16 sub-districts in Bandarlampung City affected by flooding on Tuesday, April 14 after being hit by heavy rain.

"Heavy rain has been pouring over the Bandarlampung City area since 18. 30 WIB. This caused a number of points in 16 sub-districts in the city to be affected by flooding," said BPBD Lampung Province Disaster Analyst Wahyu Hidayat in Bandarlampung, Wednesday, quoted by Antara.

He explained that the sub-districts affected by the flood were Kemiling, Sukarame, Tanjung Karang Barat, Panjang, Tanjung Karang Timur, South Betung Bay, North Betung Bay, Rajabasa, Tanjung Senang, Sukabumi. Labuhan Ratu, Way Halim, Langkapura, Enggal, Kedamaian, and Bumi Waras.

"In the flood incident, there was a report that one resident died and a landslide," he said.

He said that in an effort to minimize the impact of flooding, a joint team from the Bandarlampung BPBD, Fire Department, TNI and Polri, Basarnas, Satpol PP and the Indonesian Red Cross (PMI) was deployed to help evacuate residents whose homes were affected by flooding.

"The current situation, flooding or waterlogging in the affected areas has receded and the weather in Bandarlampung is cloudy," he said.

He said that currently the joint personnel are conducting data collection and helping to clean the houses of residents affected by the flood.

"The joint team is now cleaning the sediment in the houses of residents who were carried away by the flood," he said.

On Tuesday, April 14, heavy rain with high intensity flooded Bandarlampung City for more than an hour which caused a number of areas in the city to be affected by flooding.

Based on monitoring and data collected, the overflow of water at a number of points affected by flooding in the city reached more than one meter.
