Google Meet Comes to Android Auto, Functional But Not Fully Professional

Jakarta - After a long wait, Google Meet is finally officially available on Android Auto. This feature allows users to join meetings directly from the car dashboard, but with one important note: its function is still limited.

This move marks Google's latest expansion in integrating productivity services into the driving experience. However, instead of being a complete solution, this early version has sparked both pros and cons among users.

Meeting in the Car

Google Meet on Android Auto is designed with a safety approach as the top priority. This means that there is no video display during the meeting - all communication is done in audio mode.

The interface displayed is also made very simple. Users only see a list of meetings from the calendar that has been synchronized on the phone. Just one tap to join, plus a large mute button for easy access when the cabin is noisy.

The approach is clear: stay productive without sacrificing focus while driving.

The problem arises with account support. Currently, Google only allows the use of personal accounts. Users with Google Workspace-based work accounts cannot access this feature at all. If you try to log in with a work account, the system will immediately reject the connection.

For many professionals who hope to be able to use travel time for meetings, this restriction feels like a "disadvantage".

On one hand, the presence of Google Meet on Android Auto is considered a step forward. On the other hand, the limitation of features makes it not fully relevant for work needs.

Some users say this feature is more suitable for casual calls or light coordination, not formal meetings.

The launch itself is carried out gradually through server updates, so not all users can try it immediately.

The Future Direction

Although still limited, this step shows a clear direction: the car is no longer just a means of transportation, but also a productivity space.

If Google opens support for Workspace accounts and adds advanced features, it is not impossible that the dashboard of the car will turn into a "walking office".

For now, Google Meet on Android Auto still feels like a teaser - the features are there, but the great potential has not been fully released.
