Bahlil Nego Import Supply of Crude Oil and Elpiji from Russia
JAKARTA - Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) Bahlil Lahadalia revealed that Indonesia has the potential to obtain crude oil supplies, Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) and the certainty of oil refinery development from Russia.
In order to deepen the technical discussion, Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Bahlil Lahadalia together with the Russian Energy Minister Sergey Tsivilev on Tuesday, April 14, had a face-to-face meeting. This meeting was a follow-up to the high-level talks between President Prabowo and Russian President Vladimir Putin at the Kremlin the day before.
"Alhamdulillah, what has been agreed upon, we have obtained a fairly good result where we can get our crude reserves to increase. In addition, we will also be able to get LPG," said Bahlil in a statement to the media, Tuesday, April 14.
During the forum, Russia expressed its readiness to support Indonesia's energy resilience, including oil and gas supplies and storage. The meeting was also attended by representatives of a number of Russian energy companies, including Rosneft, Ruschem, Zahrubesneft, and Lukoil.
Bahlil emphasized that the cooperation was explored through the intergovernmental scheme or Government to Government (G2G) and business-to-business (B2B), which is expected to provide certainty regarding the availability of national energy reserves, especially for crude oil and LPG in Indonesia.
On the other hand, Bahlil said that Indonesia is open to expanding the scope of collaboration with Russia, including in the development of crude storage, long-term supply of crude oil and LPG, nuclear exploration, and cooperation in the mineral sector.
"We want all of this to really provide certainty for national energy resilience," he said.
Bahlil assessed that the results of the meeting gave a positive signal for strengthening national energy resilience. in the midst of uncertain global dynamics. He assessed that partnerships with Russia could be one of the important options, given the country's large energy production capacity and its experience in the oil and gas industry.
"Once again I am happy today because at the direction of President Prabowo to follow up thoroughly. And thank God once again I say that God willing we can get the good," explained Bahlil.
