Microsoft Will Stop Outlook Lite Service Starting May Next
JAKARTA - Microsoft will close the Outlook Lite application for all users on May 26, 2026. In the future, the company will only focus on its main Outlook service.
Outlook Lite was initially launched in 2022 as a solution for low-spec phones and for users with limited internet connections. However, the service does not have as many features as the original version.
After several years of providing the Lite service, Microsoft decided to switch the entire user base to the standard application. That way, users will get a more adequate experience with richer features.
The company has warned that the app will lose its full functionality for users who are still active until May. Users who have already installed the app are advised to migrate their data before the specified deadline.
"To continue to enjoy a secure and feature-rich email experience, we recommend switching to Outlook Mobile," Microsoft wrote on its official support page, quoted on Tuesday, April 14.
All data ranging from emails, calendar schedules, to old attachments are guaranteed to be accessible through the standard Outlook Mobile application. Users simply log in with the same account to recover all their personal information.
Users will then be directed to the Google Play Store to download the main version of the application. Thus, the light version of Outlook will no longer be widely available.
