Roblox Introduces New Age-Based Account to Support the Implementation of PP Tunas
JAKARTA - Roblox Corporation announced the launch of two types of age-based accounts, namely Roblox Kids and Roblox Select, for children and teenagers.
Roblox Kids is aimed at users aged 5-12 years, while Roblox Select is for ages 13-15 years. This update is in line with the implementation of the Government Regulation on child protection in the digital space or PP Tunas in Indonesia.
Through this update, Roblox will combine various control tools including age verification, basic settings tailored to each account, content ratings, and expanded parental controls.
Specifically for user accounts under the age of 16, they will require verified parental consent (VPC), and user accounts under the age of 16 that have not been verified by parents or guardians will not have access to chat or game features with a rating of Moderate or higher.
For Roblox Kids accounts:
Only able to access games with Minimal or Mild content labels, and have gone through a selection process in three stages All communication modes cannot be accessed by default The design will have a unique color throughout the application that indicates that this is a Roblox Kids accountFor Roblox Select accounts:
Only able to access games with content labels that include Moderate, and have gone through the selection process in three stages. Only able to chat with trusted friends with parental consent. The design will have a unique color throughout the application that indicates that this is a Roblox Select account.This account system will adjust automatically as users grow. Roblox Kids accounts will change to Roblox Select when users reach the age of 13, and become a standard account at the age of 16.
Meanwhile, users who have not completed age verification can only access games in the Minimal or Mild category without communication features.
Roblox also implements a continuous content selection process for users under 16 years of age, including developer verification, real-time content evaluation, and maturity labeling.
In addition, the company is also expanding parental controls, such as individual game blocking, chat settings, and restrictions on playing time and purchases.
Both accounts are scheduled to launch in early June with content, communication, and parental control settings tailored to the user's age.
