Main in the Film Songko, Imelda Therinne Challenges Myself to Master 80 Percent of Manado Language

JAKARTA - Actress Imelda Therinne again showed her acting skills in the latest film project titled Songko. This film, produced by Dunia Mencekam and Film Machine, demands Imelda to get out of her comfort zone, especially in terms of mastering the dominant regional language.

Met at the film's premiere, Imelda expressed her admiration for the script written by Gerald. According to him, the story that was raised was very strong because it was written by a local boy who understood the intricacies of Sulawesi culture.

"The first time I was scolded (script) by Gerald, I think Gerald is a writer who has been around for a long time, you can see from the stitching of his writing that it is really cool. Thank you for sharing a beautiful story. Because you are originally from Sulawesi, so it feels like the writing is really lifting the real culture," said Imelda Therinne in the Jakarta area, Monday, April 13.

For this award-winning actress, being involved in a film that raises local wisdom is a mission to introduce the vastness of Indonesia to the audience. He appreciates the courage of the production house who wants to explore stories from the region.

"Indonesia is actually wide, not in certain areas. Thank you to Dunia Mencekam and Film Machine for daring to explore, making films from the region. We invite the audience to realize that Indonesia is wide and has a lot of stories of stories," he said.

Talking about the biggest challenge, Imelda said that the dialogue in this film is mostly in Manado language. No small matter, the portion reaches almost all the dialogues she plays.

"Maybe the challenge itself I learned a lot. The language is 80 percent Manado language. It turns out that the language is really easy," said Imelda while smiling.

Fortunately, Imelda did not fight alone. She was helped a lot by the original actors of Manado who played the main roles. The intense interaction with local theater actors was recognized as very helpful in the process of deepening her character.

"I was given the opportunity to interact with Manado actors, Wata and Luisa, and they are really cool actors who are active in theater. That helped a lot," he explained.

In addition to language, natural factors are also an unexpected physical challenge. Imelda tells how the weather at the shooting location feels very extreme, even he compares the atmosphere to being abroad.

"The weather is also very heavy, like we are shooting abroad, in London, right. It's just that the nature is beautiful. Hopefully the capture will be in the film. I haven't watched the film myself, I'm so excited," added the actress born in 1982.

The Songko film is expected to bring a new color and a breath of fresh air to the increasingly diverse local film industry. If there are no obstacles, this film is scheduled to greet audiences in theaters starting April 23.

"Hopefully this film can give a fresh wind to the Indonesian film world that is something new, yes," he concluded.
