Prabowo: RI-Russia Talks Very Productive and Progress Rapidly

JAKARTA - President Prabowo Subianto stated that the talks and developments in cooperation between Indonesia and Russia showed very productive results and had rapid progress in various fields.

This was conveyed by Prabowo in front of Putin in a bilateral meeting between the two leaders at the Kremlin Palace, Moscow, Russia, Monday, April 13.

Prabowo revealed that in recent months he had met with many delegations as well as representatives of the Russian government and companies, both in Jakarta and in Moscow.

"I just met with some officials from Russia and some companies from Russia. I am very grateful because the conversation was very productive," said Prabowo.

Prabowo said that almost all areas of cooperation that had been agreed upon previously between Indonesia and Russia are now showing significant progress.

"Almost all areas that we agreed on a few months ago have made rapid progress," he said.

However, Prabowo emphasized that there were still a number of things that needed to be accelerated and would receive direct attention from him.

"There are one or two that we need to accelerate, I will immediately handle it myself," said Prabowo.

President Putin stated that Russia is very open to cooperating in various fields with Indonesia. He admitted that he was very happy with the bilateral meeting with Prabowo. For him, this bilateral meeting was very heavy.

"Some time ago we received a declaration on a strategic partnership. I am very happy that we are implementing measures that have a significant meaning and content for the relationship between the two countries," he said.

Putin then highlighted the development of economic and trade cooperation which is one of the main pillars of bilateral relations between the two countries. According to him, the value of trade between Indonesia and Russia has increased significantly to reach 12 percent.

He emphasized that the two countries continue to prioritize strengthening cooperation in a number of strategic sectors that are considered to have a key role in bilateral relations. He said that various opportunities for developing cooperation had been intensively discussed by both parties.

"Among other things, we are talking about cooperation in the energy sector, in the space sector, as well as in the agricultural sector, in the production of industries and in the pharmaceutical sector. We attach great importance to developing cooperation in the humanitarian sector, including in the field of education," said Putin.
